Sync status
Every tree is pulled with rsync under a lock, two stages
(packages first, metadata last) so a partially fetched tree is never advertised as current.

Both nodes carry the identical tree and answer on the same hostname. If one is drained for maintenance its address record is pulled first, so clients drift over within the DNS TTL (300 s) instead of hitting a dead host.

We do not carry Debian or Ubuntu. Those trees are large, well mirrored already,
and the disks here are better spent on the RPM side. Requests to add them are politely declined.
